Strathcona House
Cultural Interpretation Centre
The Lord Strathcona House is a replica of the house once owned by Donald Smith, a well-known officer of the Hudson’s Bay Company. He was in charge of trading throughout Labrador and made the trading post in Rigolet his headquarters. He later became known as Lord Strathcona and drove the last spoke in the Canadian Railway in Quebec.
The house was said to be “the grandest house in all of Labrador” and today Rigolet is proud to offer it as a Cultural Interpretation Centre for both the community and tourists alike.
